The Casino and District Historical Society Inc was formed in 1965 and opened in 1966. It consists of a group of people dedicated to preserving our history for future generations to enjoy. The Society’s main aim is to preserve all aspects of Australian culture such as tools of trade, implements, furniture, Aboriginal artifacts, newspapers, photographs and diaries etc. and especially the early history of the local area and its early settlers.



MUSEUM HOURS WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY 10am - 2pm. Other days by appointment. Group bookings available. ADMISSION Adults: $5, Children and Students: free.

The museum is always interested in acquiring either by purchase, donation or otherwise, additional items for preservation.

COMING UP *Fundraising BBQs are held on the 3rd Saturday of the month at Coles in Canterbury Street from 8am to 12pm. * Fundraising BBQ is also held on first Saturday in August at the annual Truck Show in Casino. *OPEN DAY! Membership fees support the running of the Society and members receive a quarterly bulletin, free access to museum research, quarterly meetings with a guest speaker, attend Society outings and meet fellow members with similar interests. General Meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday in March, June, September and November, 10am at the museum.

Learn MoreThe museum is entirely volunteer run, and we are always interested in hearing from people who would like to join our team. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn about our local history and contribute to the local community.
We have an exciting variety of volunteering opportunities available and are always keen to welcome new volunteers. Some of the roles are front of house to meet and greet visitors, administrative work, cleaning, repair work, fundraising ie raffles and BBQ, exhibition or events planning, grant writing and so much more.
